A pocket-sized radiation dosimeter
RiumGM is a compact, high-performance radiation detector you can use to measure the amount of radioactivity in your environment. This energy-compensated Geiger-Muller tube can detect gamma and X-ray radiation. It was developed in partnership with France’s radioprotection and nuclear safety institute, IRSN.

A Geiger counter that supports citizen science
The Fukushima nuclear power plant disaster sparked a variety of initiatives to enable consumers to monitor the radiation in their environments. The OpenRadiation community is one such initiative.
This citizen science program is led by the IRSN, France’s radioprotection and nuclear safety institute, and other partners*. The goal is to allow citizens to contribute their radiation dosimetry measurements to a radioactivity risk map, which contributors can also discuss online with other members of the community.
We partnered with the IRSN to develop the RiumGM detector, which, when paired with your phone, can collect radiation measurement data and display it in an easy-to-understand and educational manner via the OpenRadiation app developed by the IRSN and via the RiumGM app.
